St. Petersburg sets one of the lowest limits in Tampa Bay: grass over 10 inches. A lot that was fine in April can be past it by July, because rainy season growth can push vegetation up a foot or more a month. After the correction date on the notice, the city can have the lot cut itself and record a lien for the cost.

Not every St. Petersburg address is in the city. Lealman, the unincorporated area between St. Petersburg and Pinellas Park, falls under Pinellas County's code: weeds over 12 inches and 10 days to comply (3 for a repeat). Gulfport, Pinellas Park and Kenneth City are separate cities with their own codes. The letterhead on your notice tells you which office sent it, and that office is the one that closes the case.
