Brush Hogging Service in Tampa Bay
Brush hogging and bush hogging are the same service: a tractor pulling a rotary cutter through tall grass, weeds and brush. Whichever name you use, it's what we do every day across Hillsborough, Pinellas and Manatee counties, quoted at a firm flat rate up front.

Brush hog or bush hog?
Bush Hog is a brand of rotary cutter, built in Selma, Alabama since the early 1950s. The name stuck to the whole job, and since the machine cuts brush, plenty of people call it brush hogging. Same tractor, same cutter, same result. You'll also hear it called rotary cutting, tractor mowing or heavy duty mowing. We run genuine Bush Hog rotary cutters behind Kubota, John Deere and New Holland tractors.
What brush hogging handles
- Tall grass, weeds and thick brush up to 1" in diameter, cut and left on the ground.
- Small saplings from 1" to 3", which we may be able to cut with a heavy-duty rotary cutter. Send photos and we'll tell you.
- Overgrown lots and acreage that have gotten away from their owners, where the goal is to open the property back up.
It works best when the ground is reasonably level and dry and there's room for a tractor. It isn't the tool for larger trees, stumps, or anything in a wetland, conservation area or buffer. What we can and can't cut
Who calls us for brush hogging
- Owners with a code violation notice and a deadline. We photograph the finished work for the officer. Code violation mowing
- Pasture and acreage owners keeping fields open. Acreage & pasture mowing
- Builders and investors holding vacant and infill lots. Developed lot maintenance
- REO asset managers and property managers who need a property cut and documented.
- Out-of-town owners. You don't need to be there; we just need access, and we send photos of the completed work.
Why hire it out instead of renting a brush hog
Most rental companies have stopped renting tractors with brush hogs because of the injury rate, and the ones that do tend to be tired machines with dull blades. You'd need a heavy-duty truck to tow it, and you're on the hook for anything that breaks. Add it up and hiring a professional with a high-horsepower machine usually costs the same or less. Should I rent a bush hog?
What brush hogging costs
Production ranges from a quarter acre to four acres an hour depending on the machine and how thick the growth is, so an hourly rate alone tells you very little. We quote the whole job at a firm flat rate instead. Send your address or parcel ID and a few photos and we'll quote most jobs the same day. How bush hogging is priced
